Callous killing of Whales

The international ban on whaling should mean just that, without the legal loopholes that allows the barbaric practice of killing these wonderful creatures in the name of scientific research.

This summer the Japanese fleet is set to murder over 1,000 minke and fin whales in the name of scientific research.

This practice should be stopped immediately as it can take up to fifteen minutes for a whale to die after being subjected to a harpoon hit; needless suffering that is totally unjustified.

Whales do not need to die in the name of scientific research as modern research methods do not require a whale to die to fulfil it’s research purposes.

My hat goes off to Greenpeace, the Sea Shepherd group and all the other environmental groups out there that are trying to stop this barbaric practice and also raise public awareness of this controversial issue

I cannot help my suspicions being raised by the fact that Japans most popular food source is fish and fish products and feel that we need to ensure that none of the magnificent creatures killed in the name of research finds it’s way into the food chain.
